I don’t know why this reminds me of a lline from The Simpsons (Homer says it while looking at a map of the U.S.), but a few days ago I discovered that there’s an academic specialty called “critical management studies, drawing on “feminism, post-structuralism, Labour Process Theory, Critical and Marxist perspectives:”

Critical academics are defined as those ‘concerned to analyse management in terms of its social, moral and political significance and in general terms to challenge management practice rather than seek to sustain it’ (Grey and Mitev, 1995: 74).

Their presence must enliven business school faculty meetings to no end.
