It looks like I’ve got a new weekend gig, a freelance writing project on technology-related subjects. I can’t describe it in too much detail, as it’s going to be unsigned.
But even though it won’t have a byline, it should offer an interesting challenge. In the course of talking about what it would be, the editor and I threw out Ludwig Wittgenstein’s Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, Hunter Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Sun-tzu’s The Art of War as models for what I should be doing.
This afternoon I went to Kepler’s and picked up copies of all three. I read the last two in college, and hope that having read Ray Monk’s brilliant biography of Wittgenstein will give me a leg up on the first.
It would be hard to imagine three less similar works, which is what will make this project so intriguing. I hope it works out.
