So the first installment of my “The Future” column/bloglike object is now out. The three pieces have slightly obscure titles– “Darwin’s notebooks,” “Amplifiers,” and “Keys and hammers“– that are a bit like the names of Cocteau Twins songs.

I’m starting to get some good feedback from readers, from as far afield as Australia. I’m also getting e-mail from PR people representing various companies, hoping that I’ll work in a mention of the products they represent. It’s nice to think of me, but until packages start arriving on my doorstep (either samples of what you want mentioned, or things from my Amazon Wish List), no deal. Of course I’m kidding.

I’m now waiting for a message from the daughter of a Nigerian futurist who has $30 million that the family needs help moving out of the country….
