This morning I took my son and one of his classmates to Rancho San Antonio, one of the county parks.

It was more like a walk than a “hike,” since we went about two miles, mainly stayed on the bike and pedestrian trails, and went at a 6 year-old pace.

The park– the lower parts that we were on, anyway– is mainly oak trees and grasses, and quite pretty.

Some of the park was a farm (coincidentally, a portion of the park was owned by the same people who founded Peninsula School), and Deer Hollow Farm is still open. You can still see lots of fences around the park, and in some way I can’t precisely identify, it feels like land that was once cultivated, but has been reclaimed by nature.
